Meredith Connell – Auckland CBD

Inspired by the Waitakeres, and enriched with wood details.

At the heart of Auckland’s legal district, Woodkraft has brought a refined material palette and expert craftsmanship to the headquarters of Meredith Connell, one of the city’s leading law firms.

Drawing inspiration from the untamed beauty of the Waitakere Ranges, this bespoke installation focused on two grand staircases, where solid American oak was meticulously sourced, machined, and fitted to create a seamless blend of sophistication and durability.

Beyond the staircases, Woodkraft extended their expertise to the installation of engineered oak flooring across two architectural bridges within the Meredith Connell offices. Spanning approximately 145m², these striking walkways demanded a flawless, linear application of timber, ensuring visual continuity and a seamless transition between spaces. To achieve this, American oak was carefully glued over a Damtec underlay, which was first adhered to a plywood substrate. This approach not only enhanced acoustic performance but also ensured longevity in a high-traffic environment.

We've turned the law of averages on it's head

The Meredith Connell installation required minute by minute coordination with the other specialist construction teams involved. Given the project’s high-profile location, all work was conducted outside regular business hours, ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations. This logistical challenge was expertly managed by Woodkraft, demonstrating their ability to deliver large scale projects within strict operational constraints.

While the project was very much a collaboration of skills and materials, the meticulous craftsmanship evident in every detail reflects Woodkraft’s dedication to providing outcomes at the highest level.

The Meredith Connell office is a tribute to architects Jasmax and the specialist companies involved. The result is an architectural feature that balances aesthetic intent with practical resilience—an embodiment of timeless craftsmanship meeting contemporary workspace demands.
